FIRST STEPS IN DATA TABLE EXPLORATION WITH EXCEL
- Building data table: good practices in database building for an optimal use
- Efficient browsing of a data table (use of filters, sorts, shortcuts)
- Implementation of tools to avoid input errors (drop-down lists, validation of input values)
- Implementation of tools facilitating the reading of the database (conditional data formatting, data grouping)
- Creation of new variables: application of Excel formulas (sum, product, IF statement, cell concatenation, extraction of character string, etc.)
- Automatic return of value from another table (SEARCH function)
UNIVARIATE DESCRIPTIVE ANALYSES
- Descriptive statistics (mean, minimum, maximum, sum, variance, standard deviation, …)
- Use of pivot tables
- Formula extension by freezing cells
- Graphs: choosing the suitable graph
